Year 3ND
Term one saw us studying Australia. We learnt how Aboriginals influenced the naming of local places, how they passed on stories and how they used symbols to represent things in the environment. We learnt about natural and built features and developed our mapping skills. The class visited the Pomona Museum and then each student presented an Aboriginal story using art, drama or storytelling.
Come and join the entomologists (those who study insects) in our room to learn about the minibeasts we find in our local environment. We have invented new insects (using a 'design a bug' program on the internet) and are writing descriptions to tell others about the new insects we have discovered.
We have also made a worm farm and hope to use their castings on our vegetable garden.
In the last few weeks the children have been challenged with the Imaths investigation, 'Once Upon a castle.' They have had to work with 2D and 3D shapes to build a castle. A lot of planning, discussion and work with nets has gone into this activity.
